From longtime residents to first-time visitors, many people are discovering that pickleball is one of Grand Bend’s most welcoming and active pastimes. Helping to bring people together through movement, laughter, and a shared love of staying active.
What makes pickleball so appealing is how accessible it is. Whether you’re new to the sport or if you have been playing for years, it’s easy to join in, meet others, and enjoy the game at your own pace.

Why Pickleball Has Grown So Quickly
Pickleball has humble roots, once beginning as a simple backyard game it has now transformed into one of North America’s fastest-growing sports. The reason is simple: it’s approachable.
The rules are a breeze to learn, the court is smaller than a tennis court, and the game is low-impact while still offering a great workout, making it a sport that’s suitable for many. Players of different ages and skill levels can play together, making it as much about connection as competition.
In a community like Grand Bend, where outdoor living and social activity are part of everyday life, pickleball is a perfect fit.
How Pickleball is Played
Pickleball is played with a paddle and a lightweight perforated ball, similar to a wiffle ball. Games can be played as singles or doubles and typically move at a relaxed, enjoyable pace.
All you need to get started is:
A pickleball paddle
Pickleballs
Comfortable clothing
Running shoes suitable for the court
Many players begin with open play sessions, where games rotate naturally, so there is no pressure to jump into more formal and competitive matches right away.

Where to Play Pickleball in Grand Bend & Surrounding Area
One of the biggest reasons pickleball has thrived locally is the number of places available to play—both outdoors during warmer months and indoors throughout the winter.

Outdoor Pickleball:
Klondyke Sports Park
9989 Klondyke Road, Grand Bend
Klondyke Sports Park offers public outdoor courts that are frequently used by members of the Grand Bend Pickleball Club. During the outdoor season, open play is scheduled on odd-numbered days of the calendar from 9 am to noon, making it a welcoming spot for players of all experience levels.
Tridon Pickleball Courts
70829 Bluewater Highway, Grand Bend
Open May 1 - October 31
Just north of town, the Tridon Pickleball Courts have become a central hub for the local pickleball community. Formerly underutilized tennis courts, the space was transformed into seven dedicated pickleball courts through the efforts of the Grand Bend Pickleball Club, with support from Tridon Group.

In October 2023, club members worked together to clear vegetation, refresh the surfaces, and prepare the courts—expanding from three to seven, a major milestone for local pickleball! They officially opened in November 2023, with 86 members registered through Pickleball Canada and Pickleball Ontario. The occasion was celebrated with a ribbon cutting, cake, and of course, plenty of pickleball—reflecting the strong community spirit that defines the game in Grand Bend.
